Originally commissioned by Emperor Franz Joseph, the stunning Kunsthistorisches Museum hosts one of the world's most extensive art collections, spanning five millennia. The magnificent building also houses the collection of the Habsburgs, a dynasty that ruled for more than 600 years. You will have the chance to see works of art from ancient Egypt and Greek antiquity to the late 18th century. Major works by painters such as Dürer, Raphael, Rembrandt, Rubens, Titian, Velázquez and Vermeer are on display, together with the largest collection of Bruegel paintings in the world and world-famous sculptures such as Cellini's 'Saliera'.
