Housed in a building designed by Santiago Calatrava, the museum will combine striking architecture with practical sustainable design initiatives. You will notice the use of natural energy and light sources, including solar panels that supply power to the building and water taken from the bay that helps regulate the internal temperature.
The main exhibition, created by physicist and cosmologist Luiz Alberto Oliveira, will take you through five major areas: Cosmos, Earth, Anthropocene, Tomorrow and Now. As you move through these sections you will explore themes the museum addresses, such as population growth and increased life expectancy, changing consumption patterns, climate change, genetic engineering and bioethics, the distribution of wealth, technological advances and shifts in biodiversity. Along the way the displays will connect large-scale questions about the planet and future possibilities with contemporary issues affecting society today.
