From Funchal, the Sea Safari takes you offshore to search for whales, dolphins, sea turtles and oceanic birds in their natural environment. Along the way you may spot a variety of cetaceans and other marine life, but sightings are never guaranteed. The trip is guided by a captain and a marine biologist who will give informative commentary about the cetaceans of Madeira and the surrounding marine environment and ecosystem.
Completely rebuilt in 2023 and powered by two brand new 250hp engines, the Sea Safari can cover greater distances than other boats in Funchal. You will travel on a low‑sitting vessel that brings you close to the water for an intimate view, while double‑cushioned seats offer comfort and 360° visibility. Spotters on land use powerful binoculars to locate dolphins and whales and then direct the boat to them. The crew are mindful that these are wild animals, so the primary aim will be to observe respectfully while you learn and enjoy the experience.
