This experience takes you from Aix-en-Provence out to the famous lavender fields on the Valensole plateau, arriving in the late afternoon to enjoy the warm, golden light that suits photography. During the day the light can be very strong and it may be hot, so the timing aims to show the lavender at its most flattering and fragrant.
As you move through the fields you'll be surrounded by the Provençal-scented lavender for which the area is known. Along the way there will be a stop at a lavender distillery where you can buy products directly from the producers. You will also have some free time to explore the village of Valensole. For lovers of typical Provençal landscapes, the best time to visit is typically from mid-June to the end of July, when the plateau is awash with blue lavender in bloom and the sight and scent are particularly vivid.
