This afternoon trip takes you to the famous vineyard village of Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape. The medieval streets are dominated by the ruins of the Pope’s former summer residence, which sit above the village and shape its skyline. As you move through the village, its historic character and vineyard views provide a clear sense of place.
The region’s winemaking is central to the visit. The 13 grape varieties grown here, together with the different soils, create a wide palette of complex red wines and elegant white wines. You will stop at two of the village’s many cellars and enjoy two wine‑tastings, sampling what Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape is known for. After the tastings, the trip returns to Avignon.
