This walk through the city centre of Thessaloniki will take you into the heart of its busy street markets and traditional neighbourhoods. Along the way you'll find a great variety of herbs and spices to excite your senses, plus diverse meats and cheeses. The smell of freshly roasted Greek coffee will often follow you, often leading to one of the oldest traditional coffee houses in Greece, and you will explore famous areas such as Louloudadika and Kapani Street.
The tour begins once the group has gathered at the meeting point and sets off to a first stop for a traditional Greek breakfast. Bougatsa (filo pastry filled with cream) will be served hot and sprinkled with powdered sugar and cinnamon. As you move through the open markets across the city centre, you'll have the opportunity to try Greek coffee, the famous bougatsa, spinach pie, koulouri (Greek bagel), Greek souvlaki and Greek olives, sampling local flavours as you go.
