In Oaxaca's main square you will admire the Santo Domingo temple, originally part of a convent and now one of the city's foremost museums of colonial and pre‑Columbian art. Inside the museum you will see valuable objects from the Monte Alban archaeological site. As you move along the tourist walkway — a pedestrian street lined with distinctive green quarry buildings — you will come across the Cathedral, built by Dominican monks in the 16th century, and you will see the exterior of the Macedonio Alcalá Theatre, described as an architectural jewel of the city.
Along the way you will visit traditional chocolate mills, where you will talk about and learn the ingredients used to prepare the region's exquisite chocolate drink. Before the tour finishes, you will also explore a lively local market, one of the most typical in the region, where hundreds of people gather daily to offer their products in a tradition that dates back to pre‑Hispanic times.
