Stunning fjords & waterfalls, charming villages and a living Maritime Centre. A perfect half-day trip filled with nature, culture and traditions!
From the coastal city of Bergen, we travel toward the enchanting region of Hardanger – a land of world-class fjords, magnificent waterfalls, and rich craft traditions. Along the way, we stop at some of the area’s most breathtaking waterfalls - Fossen Bratte & Steinsdalsfossen.
Here, you’ll feel the raw power of nature – standing close to the roaring cascades and breathing in the crisp, fresh mountain air.
As we approach Norheimsund, the landscape opens up to reveal the legendary Hardangerfjord – a deep-blue fjord framed by towering cliffs, with views of the Jostedalsbreen Glacier, draped like a shimmering white cloak over the distant peaks.
We also make a stop at Salthammeren, where you can admire panoramic views over the Hardangerfjord and see Stone Age rock carvings etched into the mountainside – ancient symbols that offer a rare glimpse into Norway’s earliest history.
And what would Hardanger be without its proud coastal traditions?
In Norheimsund, we visit the Hardanger Maritime Center — a living museum where traditional wooden boats, coastal crafts, and centuries-old techniques are still kept alive. You can watch skilled boatbuilders at work, explore authentic workshops, and step into Hardanger’s maritime heritage.
To round off the visit, enjoy a slice of a delicious apple pie — a beloved local treat served at the museum café!
