In 2006, Bristol woke up to find a cheeky mural on a wall — and 97% of residents voted to keep it. That mural by Banksy changed how an entire city thinks about street art. This self-guided audio walking tour takes you there, and through 1,000 years of Bristol's best stories — from the pub where Blackbeard planned his raids and Defoe found Robinson Crusoe, to a medieval clock with two minute hands and where the phrase pay on the nail was born. Available in 9 languages with offline access, you start whenever you like, pause for a pint at a 17th-century inn, and pick up right where you left off. No group to follow, no fixed schedule — just your phone, headphones, and 14 stops across Bristol, a city reckoning honestly with its slave-trading past. Long ago Tudor Cardiff faded into history, along with almost all of its buildings. Today, Cardiff is a bustling, modern city so it’s hard to believe that in the mid-1500s it was just a tiny port and market town on the River Taff. On this GPS-guided walking tour, you'll look beyond the modern buildings at the clues that tell the city’s story of fame and notoriety in the days of the powerful Tudor dynasty. As you make your way through the city centre, I’ll point out the only two remaining Tudor buildings and reveal the curious origin of some of Cardiff’s street names like Womanby, Golate and Wharton Streets. You’ll hear what life was like back in Tudor Cardiff, including how different the daily diets of the rich and poor were and how literacy meant there were different laws for the different social classes. And on your way to Bute Park, where the tour ends, you’ll pass by St John The Baptist City Parish Church’s striking tower, Gorsedd Stone Circle, and the spectacular Cardiff Castle.
