A few dozen kilometres from Tozeur and Nefta, the oases of Chebika, Tamerza and Midès sit in a dramatic mountain landscape. Each oasis has its own character: in Chebika a wadi runs down the side of a steep mountain, forming waterfalls and rivulets where frogs have made their home. The old village of Tamerza, abandoned like a ghost village, looks out over a spectacular mountainous scene while its lush oasis is fed by a towering waterfall. Midès, tucked into a dizzyingly high canyon, offers striking panoramic views.
Along the way you’ll also explore real-life filming locations from your favourite intergalactic epic. It is best to give a polite but firm “no thank you” and hand the item back – or leave it on the ground and walk away to be clear that you are not going to engage.
