Portland’s famous food carts are scattered across the city’s five (now six) quadrants — more than 600 carts gathered in over 60 pods. You will begin at the shop on 833 SE Main Street #124, where you will be fitted with a lightweight bicycle and helmet before setting off on an 8–12 mile (11–17 km) guided culinary route. As you move through different neighbourhoods, you’ll stop to taste plentiful samples that range from Oregon farm-to-table delights to snacks suited to late-night cravings.
The tour concentrates on locally owned businesses with strong stories; your guides will take you to a few of their favourites, including several vendors that helped shape Portland’s food cart scene. Along the way you’ll encounter flavours and fusions that reflect both culinary creativity and cultural influences. Groups are kept small for a more intimate experience and the guides are passionate about the people behind the carts. Bikes, helmets and generous food samples are provided.
