On this walking tour through New Orleans’ elegant 19th Century garden neighbourhood, you will hear the neighbourhood’s history from the Louisiana Purchase through the Civil War. As you move along shady streets and between iron-laced gates, your guide will share the stories that shaped the area and its people. You will get to look through the gates at Lafayette Cemetery #1, which is currently closed to the public, and learn how the cemetery and surrounding neighbourhood together tell a broad slice of the city’s past.
Along the way you will pass stunning antebellum mansions and lush private gardens that frame the streets. Expect plenty of memorable stories and beautiful photo opportunities as you explore the architecture and green spaces. Groups are kept under 12 guests to keep the experience personal and engaging, so you’ll have time to ask questions and take in the details at a relaxed pace.
