This full-day tour will take you from Sofia to Plovdiv, one of the world’s most ancient cities. You’ll get the opportunity to gain insights into Plovdiv’s centuries-old history and explore famous attractions. After a two-hour drive from Bulgaria’s capital, you’ll reach Plovdiv. You’ll be able to join a 2.5-hour walking tour through the Old Town, where you’ll discover Bulgarian Renaissance architecture, the Roman Theatre of Philippopolis, the Regional Ethnographic Museum and other landmarks. You’ll then have around 1.5 hours to wander around Plovdiv on your own, taking in the central sights and trying the local cuisine. You can choose to visit the trendy Kapana neighbourhood and taste Bulgarian wines. As the tour ends, you’ll take a bus ride back to Sofia.

It is recommended to bring sun cream, a hat and sunglasses during the summer months. The Old Town of Plovdiv has cobbled streets, some of which are steep. The Plovdiv Regional Ethnographic Museum is closed on Mondays. Please note that an internet connection is required to download the smartphone audio guide. This tour is not suitable for children aged 0–4 years.
